A Few Tips To Help Keep Your Office Clean

The office is considered our second home as we tend to spend 40 or more hours per week there and as the work load increases so does the clutter on your desk, stacked papers, stationary equipment, perhaps even that empty coffee cup from the Double Double you had a few days ago but you just have not found the time to recycle the cup, etc.

Here are a few tips to get you started on an easy system to keep your office space as tidy as possible.

1. File As You Go:

One of the biggest messes found on most office desks are stacks of papers.

Most people work on the papers then leave them sitting on their desk and stacking up through out the day with a promise that you will be filing them all at the end of the day but then the end of the day arrives, you have these huge stacks of papers that need to be filed in a few different categories and you just can’t bother going through all that trouble at this time so you leave it there for another day.

Instead of cluttering your office space with these huge towers of paper, set up a system of trays or file folders that are labeled with the categories that you must file each paper in, that way as you finish with each paper, just put it into its rightful category that way at the end of each day all you have to do is stick each category into its rightful spot in the filing cabinet and you are done.

2. Keep Your Electronics Clean:

Many of us tend to eat snacks and sometimes even our lunches in front of our computer in order to catch up on our work load and end up dropping crumbs in between the keys on the keyboard, our dirty fingers end up leaving food stains on the keys, the mouse, etc.

The easiest solution for this is to keep some wipes made especially for electronics on had and make it a habit to wipe down your keyboard, mouse and even monitor at the end of each day.

You can also pick up a can of compressed air at your local office supply store which is used to blow compressed air in between the keys of your keyboard to get rid of any food crumbs that may be stuck in there.

3. Assign A Place For Everything:

Many of times we tend to use certain items that we keep at our desk and just place it anywhere afterwards, this is one of the top causes of cluttered desks plus it wastes a lot of time when you are stuck searching your desk the next time you need to use the item.

Make it a habit of having every item placed in one certain spot and be sure to always return it to that spot, that way your desk will always be in order plus you will always know where the item is the next time you need it.
